Airfix New Releases

There is a fleet of three Airfix plane kits coming for a landing at Hornet Hobbies. Airfix has invested in new tooling for many of their kits and their recent releases have been quite exciting. We have two 1:72 scale and one 1:48 scale kits that have arrived.

1:72 North American B-25C/D Mitchell

The C/D model (different letters were used to denote the manufacturer) of this versatile medium bomber was the first mass produced version of the aircraft. The kit comes with 166 parts and two marking options.

1:72 McDonnell Douglas FG.1 Phantom

The Royal Navy operated Phantoms from the decks of the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal for over a decade. When the carrier was decommissioned in late 1978 the Phantoms were transferred to the Royal Air Force. The kit has 162 parts and three Royal Navy marking options from 1969, 1971 (pictured on the marking reference sheet below) and 1978 (shown on the sample model).

1:48 Hawker Sea Fury FB.II

This high performance naval fighter served the Royal Navy from the end of WWII to 1953. The kit comes with 123 parts. There are Korean War era markings of the No. 801 Naval Air Squadron off HMS Glory and the markings of the restored Sea Fury operated by the Royal Naval Historic Flight.
